S.U.F.F.R.A.G.E (students Unified For Fair and Rights and Greater Equality) is an immigrant rights organization dedicated to education access regardless of country of origin or immigration status.
In 2006 Arizona passed proposition 300, requiring undocumented youth to pay out of state tuition to attend college and made them ineligible to receive merit-based public scholarships. Prop 300 was the first law targeted at immigrant students. Many students dropped out of school and went deeper in the shadows. Yet, a small group of students from Arizona State University began a support group in which they were able to embrace their stories as immigrant youth. This group of young people created S.U.F.F.R.A.G.E
S.U.F.F.R.A.G.E would become the founder of the broader organization, The Arizona DREAM Act Coalition, whose members have long ago stepped out of the shadows and announced their status as UNDOCUMENTED AND UNAFRAID
S.U.F.F.R.A.G.E focuses on providing resources for undocumented students to pursue higher education. We start chip-in campaigns for active members; we provide a way of making donations for a DREAMer’s education tax deductable, we connect undocumented students with private scholarships and guide them in the overall process of applying and preparing for college
It is the vision of S.U.F.F.R.A.G.E to help immigrant students and DREAMers seek a future in higher education through advocacy for fair rights and greater equality. It is the mission of SU.F.F.R.A.G.E to promote the welfare and educational progress of undocumented immigrant students. One of the ways that we work to accomplish this is to advocate for the passage of the DREAM Act.
You can be a sponsor by making a donation of $465 in order to pay for a S.U.F.F.R.A.G.E active member’s Deferred Action process. This member would have to meet the following requirements.
You can write a check to the Si Se Puede Foundation to sponsor a DREAMer’s college education. The Si Se Puede Foundation will then transfer the money to the DREAMer’s college bank account. The Si Se Puede Foundation has the means to make your donation TAX DEDUCTABLE.
You can be a general donor by making a monetary donation or writing a check for our organization. There are different donation levels and benefits.
You can be a donor by providing a raffle item for our organization. In the past, donors have been providing us with coupons, gift cards, valuable items etc.
/// We are a coalition of students from across the state of Arizona that are educating and advocating for the passage of the DREAM Act along with other laws that affect the immigrant community as a whole.
