Injunction to grant driver’s licenses to Arizona DREAMers coming soon
9th Circuit Court of Appeals denies Gov. Brewer’s petition to rehear case.
WHEN: November 24th 2014 at 5pm
WHERE:1122 E Buckeye Rd at Arizona DREAM Act Coalition headquarters
WHAT: In July the 9th circuit court of appeals ruled that Governor Brewer’s executive order banning DACA recipients from obtaining state ID’s and Drivers licenses was unconstitutional and a discriminatory policy. The courts sided with Arizona DREAMers and requested a preliminary injunction to grant them licenses. In an attempt to stall the process the Governor appealed the decision and filed for a rehearing. Today the 9th circuit court of appeals denied Governor Brewer’s request for the courts to rehear the ADAC vs. BREWER case with all 11 judge panel. This decision will force state courts to finally issue license to Arizona DREAMers. Join us as we address what this decision means to our community.
The Arizona DREAM Act Coalition is excited to finally receive this long awaited news. Our community has fought long and hard for our right to equality. We have called Arizona our home for many years and are ready to be recognized as citizens of the state.
