Boehner, Give Us a Vote
The Arizona Dream Act Coalition Sustains Action at Arizona Republican Party Offices
Phoenix, Arizona. The Arizona Dream Act Coalition will hold a day of action to pressure the Republican National Committee to publicly call on their leadership to bring immigration reform up for a vote. On Saturday October, 19th, a group of community leaders, including Arizona Dream Act Coalition members, faith leaders, and immigrant mothers among others traveled via caravan to Washington DC to deliver our community’s message, we need immigration reform and we need it now! The current immigration reform bill has enough support to pass, however, Speaker of the House John Boehner has failed to bring it to the floor and we are calling on him to take action as well.
To support the actions occurring in Washington DC, Arizona Dream Act Coalition leaders will sustain action at The Arizona Republican Party offices today to call on Representative Boehner to vote on immigration now.
Actions and visuals will include the delivery of a 48.8 billion faux check symbolizing the amount of money and 581,000 jobs that will be lost in Arizona alone if immigration reform does not pass, a screening of videos displaying the work being done across the country to pass immigration reform, as well as a vigil and poetry sharing in the evening.
