DREAMers Rise Retreat 2013
Presented by the Arizona Dream Act Coalition
Dear DREAM Riser,
The year of 2009 marked the beginning of a new movement in Arizona that has created a new era of advocacy for immigrant rights. In 2009 undocumented youth decided to take a stand! 4 years have passed since the Arizona Dream Act Coalition began the fight for the rights of immigrant youth and their families in our state and all the across the country. We registered low propensity Latino voters through the I Am A Dream Voter Campaign, and helped thousands of undocumented youth fill out their Deferred Action paperwork in response to Obama’s Executive Order. But as you all know, this is just the beginning!
We are excited to announce our Third annual ADAC Retreat and we are inviting YOU and all DREAM Risers from across Arizona to come together to shape the fight of immigrant youth in 2013 and gain the skills needed to move forward.
We encourage all leaders to attend; we value the diversity of personalities and understand the importance and necessity of everyone in the social justice movement. If you are an artist, grant writing master, savvy researcher or have any other skills that you want to utilize toward social justice, we encourage you to attend.
You do NOT HAVE TO BE UNDOCUMENTED to attend. DREAMers Rise Retreat is open to DREAMers, DACAmentees, allies, parents etc. This retreat is designed to give YOU an opportunity to grow and develop leadership skills. Some of the workshops and topics that will be covered during this retreat include, higher education opportunities, community organizing, event coordinating, media creation, and much more.
